A Heart's Rebellion by Ruth Axtell

Back Cover: Dutiful Jessamine Barry is tired of waiting patiently for a man to decide her future. So even though Lancelot Marfleet, second son of an aristocrat, is taking an interest in her during the London season, she refuses to consider him as a suitor. Instead, she's ready to take fashionable society by storm - and finds a rakish young man all too willing to help her do it.

Can Jessamine trust her heart to lead her to a love that proves true through thick and thin? Or will her rash actions close the door on the life she really desires?

Lose yourself in Ruth Axtell's sumptuous story of discovering one's true self and finding true love.

Review: Lancelot does not really live up to his name. He is not the dashing, mysterious, alluring man of the stories. Instead, he's quite ordinary. He wears spectacles to social outings (GASP!), has untameable hair, and works as a lowly minister. He's a second son… not the blond, rugged, rich first-born that his brother is. But Lancelot is happy and content with his life. He knows who he is and he's happy with himself. When he meets Jessamine, he senses potential, even when she does not.

Having been brutally spurned in love, Jessamine is ready to be reckless. Lancelot is modestly intriguing - in an irritating sort of way - but not what she is looking for. Tired of just being the "good girl" that everyone wants her to be - especially when being the 'good girl' ends in heart break - Jessamine shows the world a side that no one knew existed…but realizes after the fact that her new 'self' is not really who she wants to be.

Fortunately for her, God has a better plan and Lancelot a faithful heart.
